Do you remember a while back when I told you about my friend Becca’s home refresh project on THIS POST? Well, I thought I would give you a little update on the changes she has made since then.

You may recall that Becca wanted a lighter, brighter space. She had a lot of brown going on. She recently had her main living space painted. She also had her kitchen cabinets painted white and swapped out her drapes. You are about to see the transformative power of paint.

Doesn’t it look so much better with the new paint color? In case you are wondering, the color is Benjamin Moore’s Gray Owl lightened by 50%. This is really a great example of how you can create balance in temperature like I mentioned in THIS POST. Before, everything was warm. The paint added a huge dose of cool and the difference is dramatic.

You will also notice that she swapped the burlap valances with white drapes. These are the same ones that she used in her sunroom, so she knew that she liked them. Plus, they are super affordable because they are from IKEA.

Here you can see the kitchen cabinets as they were before. They were fine, good quality cabinets, but just didn’t help add to the brightness that Becca was looking for. The white cabinets look bright and crisp now.

Here is the dining room after the change in paint color. It looks so different, doesn’t it? She hasn’t changed any furniture, added any new art, pillows or accessories, and it is already 80% done. Painting your home is a fantastic bang for your buck. Becca-Before-Dining-Room

Becca-After-Dining-RoomWith just three simple changes: new wall color, new cabinet color and new drapes, Becca has transformed her space. If she wanted to continue on and take it another step, I would recommend she bring in some fresh pillows to brighten up the leather couches and bring in some pattern and color that makes her happy. I am sending her some pillow combination options and will hopefully be back soon to share those with you.
